FL.O.A.T. started in 2022 when two students from the University of Miami's Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science formed a club serving marine affairs students. Little did they know that it would grow into the thriving club it is today, with members in all fields of study. The inspiration behind the abbreviation for Florida Ocean Advocacy Team comes from one of our founders, Max Wassmer, who despite being in the marine school, does not know how to swim, hence the name- FL.O.A.T. Our dedicated members enjoy meeting bi-weekly discussing different issues plaguing the local the local bodies of water and general aquatic issues worldwide.  Passion and enthusiasm go hand-in-hand with everything we do.

Our door is always open to new members, no matter their experience level. We are proud to bring together people from all over Miami and beyond. Come join us at our next event — we’d love to share all that FL.O.A.T.  has to offer.
